Oregon City Takes Measures to Become Paperless

PENDLETON, Ore. – One Oregon city is taking steps to go paperless.

Pendleton City Attorney Pete Wells said the city has spent about a year working on the project to put all city documents on the Internet.

The city uses a service called Radix. It allows the city to copy documents to Radix, which then provides the Web interface to search for the documents and retrieve them.

The city does not expect to see any real savings from using the paperless system, Wells said.

But he said it makes city documents more available to the public. And it definitely does save some trees.
