NEW YORK – Regis Philbin's talk show has never won a Daytime Emmy, but maybe he'll get lucky in a newly created category.
"Live With Regis and Kelly" is nominated for best morning TV program, a new category announced by the TV Academy.
Kelly Ripa joked on the air today that the show has been nominated "four or five hundred" times without a win. It's really only been eight losses for the show, whether it was hosted by Ripa or Kathie Lee Gifford.
In the new category, both the hosts and the producer would get Emmys. Philbin and Ripa's competition are the "Today" show and "Good Morning America."
Winners will be announced June 15th in Los Angeles.
