An terrorist group that claims to have kidnapped a German woman and her son in Iraq extended a deadline by 10 days for Germany to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan or the hostages would be killed, according to a U.S. group that monitors extremist messages.

The Washington-based SITE Institute said the terror group "Arrows of Righteousness" made the demand in a new video posted on the Internet on Monday that also shows the German woman, Hannelore Marianne Krause, and her son, Sinan, weeping as Krause appeals to Germany and Austria to meet her captors' demands.

According to SITE, Arabic text appears on the video during Krause's plea reading: "Germany was safe before it allied with America in this devilish alliance against what is called terrorism. What terrorism is this? Did the Afghani people attack Berlin and destroy it factories? Did any Muslim explode one bomb in Germany?"

The more than five minute video could not immediately be independently located.

The previously unknown Iraqi terror group first threatened in a video on March 10 to kill Krause and her son unless Germany withdrew from Afghanistan within 10 days. The group's first deadline expired with no withdrawal of the troops.

The mother and son disappeared in Iraq on Feb. 6, and German officials have not said where the two citizens were kidnapped nor what they were doing in Iraq.

Germany, which opposed the war in Iraq, has some 3,000 soldiers serving in NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan — largely in the relatively calm north.
