Sri Lankan air force bombed a Tamil Tiger jungle base in eastern Sri Lanka, killing at least eight rebels, including two senior guerrillas, a military spokesman said Tuesday.
Airstrikes were carried out by Kfir and MiG-27 aircraft Monday on the base in Thoppigala, said air force Captain Ajantha Silva.
The Thoppigala base is considered one of the last major areas held by the Tamil Tiger rebels in the east, where Sri Lankan forces have carried out several ground and air attacks over the past year.
