A Pittsburgh Public Schools teacher was suspended with pay for allegedly sharing a sexually explicit poem with a seventh-grader.

Superintendent Mark Roosevelt suspended the teacher with pay on Monday from the Murray Accelerated Learning Academy in the city's Mount Oliver section.

Officials are not identifying the teacher while they investigate a complaint by the student's parents who called the principal about the poem on Friday.

The poem was not considered the kind of literature that would normally be discussed in class, district spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said.
