From the diaper-clad NASA Navy Captains driving 900 miles to "take out" a love rival, to some idiot NBC reporter calling our great soldiers mercenaries (what an ass), and the Iraq surge that won't happen — there’s so much to talk about, and so little time.
However, how about some thoughts on our only real friends in the Middle East — Israel — and what Iran is doing there? We have learned that once again Iran — through its surrogates Hezbollah (a terrorist organization) and Hamas (another terrorist organization) — is smuggling large quantities of weapons into Gaza, a sliver of land inside Israel.
You might remember that Hezbollah brought the great nation of Israel to a standstill last summer, because Israel unbelievably did not use its military might, and that Hamas was voted into the government of Palestine a little more than a year ago. Now Hamas and Hezbollah are working together, funded by and taking orders from Iran, to destroy Israel. Period. End of story. Dead stop. This, we cannot allow.
Our government must get this message delivered to Iran, in the form of a State Department visit or a flight of F-18’s — either way, it has to happen.
Now, let’s say you do not agree and you think, "Ah, the Jews, too much trouble, leave it alone." Like we left terrorism alone for over 40 years, you mean? Yeah, well if Hamas and Hezbollah start an all-out war against Israel with Iranian help, do you think we are going to stand by and not help (and by help, I mean militarily)? Well, we would help that is, and we should. Israel is our friend, they need us, and we need them, plain and simple. So we should get involved now, rather than get in deeper later, it seems to me.
So, we need to do two things right now: tell Iran to back off (and mean it, not just threaten it), and tell Israel we are with them. Neither message can be politically correct, and each must come from this country’s heart, and from leaders who understand what is at stake. We all must know what's at stake.
