NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Police on Thursday were search for a mother and her 17-year-old son in the shooting death of another teenager.
Police say the 17-year-old victim, whose name is not being released, and Clarence Johnson had engaged in a fight Wednesday night. Police say the fight concluded with both individuals walking away.
Detectives said Johnson went home and shared the details of the fight with his mother.
Johnson's mother, 44-year-old Vanessa Johnson, allegedly gave him a handgun and instructed him to exact revenge on the victim because Johnson apparently had lost the fight, police said.
Soon after, Clarence Johnson found the victim and fired several rounds at him, police said.
The victim was struck once in the lower torso and died at Elmwood Medical Center.
Police have secured second-degree murder arrest warrants for Clarence and Vanessa Johnson.
