Monarch Beverage Co. told all 630 employees to stay home the day after Super Bowl XLIand enjoy some free beers during their bonus long weekend.

The beer-and-wine distributor decided to make Monday a paid holiday and plans to send workers home Thursday and Friday with a six-pack of Blue Moon beer and a Super Bowl T-shirt.

Indianapolis-based Monarch runs operation centers in Indianapolis, Evansville and New Albany. Company officials said they decided to make Monday a holiday after they fielded more requests for time off than they could grant.

"The Colts' wins have had an extraordinary impact on our business, and we want to return that support," Monarch Beverage CEO Phil Terry said.

Indiana Women Torn Between Two Colors

FORT WAYNE (AP) — Women in the city might have to make a choice Friday to wear Colts blue or red to bring attention to dangers heart disease poses to women.

Friday is not only Blue Friday in honor of the Indianapolis Coltsplaying in the Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears, it's also National Wear Red Day. The annual event lets the American Heart Association boost awareness that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women and to encourage women to take steps to improve their cardiovascular health.

Mayor Graham Richard will issue a proclamation declaring Friday as Wear Red Day in Fort Wayne. Later in the day, the mayor will also proclaim the same day Blue Friday, city spokesman John Perlich said.

City officials don't see the clashing of red and assorted blue hues as a conflict, Perlich said, because both are positive events for the community.

Super Bowl Commercial Pits Indiana Actor Against NBA Star

WAKARUSA, Ind. (AP) — Some northern Indiana residents might spot a familiar face in Sunday's Super Bowl XLI commercial line-up.

Wakarusa native Ryan Woodle teams with NBA star Kevin Garnett in an ad pushing new athletic shoes promoted by Garnett. Woodle, 27, said he and another actor play two friends who run into the Minnesota Timberwolves forward while hanging out in a mall.

"Kevin Garnett happens to be in the same mall and my friend just bought his shoes, so Garnett offers to sign them," Woodle said. "Garnett asks him his name and he's so awestruck he can't speak.

"Then Garnett looks at me and I say my name is Darrell and he waits for me to give him something to sign and I don't so he grabs my head and autographs my face."

Woodle, who now lives in Hoboken, N.J., received a bachelor's degree in theater from Ball State University in 2002. He also has appeared in television commercials for Dominos Pizza, Comedy Central and Carraba's Italian Grill.

Local Band is Ultimate Colts' Fan

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) — A band called The Cousin Brothers has chronicled the Colts success with songs and may wind up with a CD deal after the Super Bowl.

Lead singer Kevin Vickery of Kennard said he writes lyrics every week to fit the games and the teams the Colts have played.

Their playlist includes "Hey Peyton" — set to the tune of Johnny Cash's "Hey Porter" — which features lines like "The ladies, they all love you for your looks and southern charm. But for me, I just love to see your laser, rocket arm."

The Stuck and Gunner Show on Indianapolis radio station WRZX has played some of the tunes live on Friday mornings, and the band has been invited to produce a CD with the station after the big game.

Radio Station Goes Blue

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Radio station B105.7 WYXB-FM became BLUE 105.7 in honor of the Indianapolis Colts trip to the Super Bowl to play the Chicago Bears Sunday.

The station is saluting the Colts all week, including a special "all blue" weekend featuring songs with the word "blue" in them such as "Blue Moon," "Midnight Blue," "Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue," and more.

Starting Thursday, the station was broadcasting live from Miami.
