Forget the 100-hour agenda. I want you to focus on the last 24. Twenty-four hours in which Democrats made clear what they're going after — more like "who" they're going after: the rich.
On Tuesday, Democratic Senator Joe Biden tells the Financial Times that the very rich should pay for more troops.
On Monday, Hillary Clinton told a Jesse Jackson gathering that it is "un-American" that the wealthiest are paying dramatically less in taxes while the middle classes are now paying more.
On Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that repealing tax cuts for those making over $500,000 a year "might be more important to the American people than ignoring the educational and health needs of America's children."
This isn't a 2010 issue — this is a now issue.
The rich are fair game and bashing them is the game.
Look, when a front-running Democratic presidential candidate like Hillary Clinton says, "It is not rich people who made this country great, it is hardworking Americans," who exactly is she talking about?
Didn't a lot of rich people get that way by working hard, taking chances and doing great things? Surely they're not all evil.
But I'm not here to judge the wealthy's merits, just politicians' words. And mark my own when I say Democrats' words point to only one thing: taxes going up. First on the wealthy, who they suspect can pay, then on every other poor slob, who they suspect haven't a clue what's really going on. Maybe because no one's been listening.
Let's just say, I am and I will.
Mark my words: I'm on it.
