It's Britney Spears against the music.

Spears' record label, Jive Records, is "going to drop her any day now," due to sub-par tracks and damage to her image, sources told the New York Post's Page Six gossip column. Spears is currently working on a new album.

This follows Post columnist's Cindy Adams' report on Wednesday that Jive executives have decided "to drop [the album] — and her."

A representative for Jive denied that the company plans to ditch Spears.

"Jive's relationship with Britney is fine. She continues to be one of our biggest worldwide artists and we remain 1,000 percent committed to her career," a representative told Page Six. Meanwhile, Spears posted a new letter to her fans Friday on her official Web site:

"... I've been able to sit down and think about where I want to go with myself as an entertainer with absolutely no strings attached. I am now more mature and feel like I am finally 'free.' I've been working so hard on this new album and I can't wait for you all to hear it and to go on tour again! I would like to exclusively tell you that I am working hard to release the new album sometime later this year, but the date is of course not certain yet."

She also addresses the closing of one of her biggest fan sites.

"I noticed today that one of my biggest fansites is shutting down soon and I want you all to know that I do understand all the reasons that went behind making that decision, and I am sad to see it closing. If I were you I'd be unhappy too if I had to read what I've been reading every day.

"But trust me, I get it. I know I've been far from perfect and the media has had a lot of fun exaggerating my every move, but I want you all to know that I love my fans so much, and I appreciate everything you have done for me, so Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!"

Spears' manager, Larry Rudolf, said Thursday that Spears would clean up her image and continue to record, citing her "rocky period" as an excuse for her "unacceptable" behavior, Page Six reports. The star, 25, is currently going through a divorce from aspiring rapper Kevin Federline, the father of her two sons.

Wednesday night, Spears was photographed coming out of the Italian restaurant Dolce in West Hollywood. As she walked out, she repeated, "I love myself, I love myself," according to the New York Post.

Someone shouted, "You look beautiful," to which she responded, "I love you for saying that!" the paper reported.
