BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Police believe "Prison Break" actor Lane Garrison may have been drunk when he crashed his SUV into a tree over the weekend, killing a 17-year-old boy who was one of his passengers, FOXNews.com has confirmed.
"According to our accident investigators, Mr. Garrison did display symptoms of alcohol intoxication," Beverly Hills Police spokesman Lt. Mitch McCann told FOXNews.com. "In addition, investigators removed alcohol containers from the SUV he was driving that was registered to him."

McCann said he could not comment on what kind of alcohol containers were taken from the vehicle, nor could he disclose whether Garrison, 26, had taken a breathalyzer at the scene or undergone blood alcohol level testing.

If police determine that Garrison was drunk at the time of the accident, charges could be filed against him because the crash resulted in a death, according to McCann.
"There was a fatality involved. It's going to be a long process," McCann said. "They're going to reconstruct the whole accident and make a decision about whether any charges will be involved. This is very serious, so we want to make sure we get everything locked down."
The accident happened just before midnight on Saturday, when Garrison — who played David "Tweener" Apolskis on the FOX TV show "Prison Break" until his character was killed off earlier this season — struck the center median near Olympic Boulevard and Beverly Drive. He lost control of the sport utility vehicle he was driving, a 2001 Land Rover, and slammed into a tree.
Garrison and his front-seat passenger had been helped out of the vehicle by passersby when police arrived on the scene, but the two back-seat passengers had to be extricated from the SUV by paramedics, police reported.
His passengers were the teenage boy, who died of his injuries after he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and two 15-year-old girls. One of the girls is still at Cedars-Sinai in serious condition; the other was treated there and released, according to police.
Police would not reveal the names of the teenagers because they are minors, and it wasn't clear how they are related to Garrison, who was treated at Century City Doctors Hospital and released Saturday night.
"They're not any kind of blood relatives," McCann said. "We're still looking into how they know each other."
Garrison is not currently in police custody, according to McCann, who said the actor had no prior DUI-related arrests to his knowledge.
"The investigation is ongoing," he said.
In addition to his work on "Prison Break," Garrison has a role in the movie "Shooters," which is still filming and is due out next year.
