Among the companies whose shares are expected to see active trade in Monday's session are Verizon Communications, Research in Motion Ltd. and Clear Channel.

Ashland Inc. (ASH) is expected to report earnings per share for the fourth quarter of 54 cents, according to analysts polled by Thomson First Call.
Clear Channel Communications (CCU) is expected to post third-quarter per-share income of 37 cents.
Humana Inc. (HUM) is expected to report income of 97 cents for the third quarter.
Kimco Realty Corp. (KIM) is expected to post per-share income of 37 cents for the third quarter.
MetLife Inc. (MET) is expected to post earnings per share of $1.17 for the third quarter.
Principal Financial Group (PFG) is expected to report third-quarter earnings of 83 cents per share.
Simon Property Group Inc. (SPG) is expected to post third-quarter per-share income of 32 cents.
Symbol Technologies Inc. (SBL) is expected to report per-share income of 12 cents for the third quarter.
Verizon (VZ) is expected to post third-quarter income of 66 cents per share. Meanwhile, on Friday the company said it was "encouraged" by a new executive order signed by California's governor streamlining the state's approval process for building high-speed networks.
Vulcan Materials Co. (VMC) is expected to post earnings of $1.52 per share for the third quarter.
After Friday's closing bell, Research In Motion (RIMM) said its stock-option grant review is ongoing, and that the Securities and Exchange Commission had made an informal inquiry requesting information on the company's option grants and practices.

Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (ANR) said it now sees per-share net income in the range of 90 cents to $1.14. In addition, the company set adjusted per-share earnings target of $1.18 to $1.42 excluding items. The company had previously expected per-share earnings at the low end of a range between $1.50 and $1.91.
Ashworth Inc. (ASHW) said it has named Peter Weil as chief executive. The company also said Winston Hickman will remain as chief financial officer until mid November, or for as long as necessary to ensure a smooth transition.
The U.S. Supreme Court said Friday it will look at whether patent infringement damages apply to overseas product sales, in a case that centers on AT&T Inc.'s (T) claim that Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) digital speech compression code in Windows operating software violates AT&T patents.
CSS Industries Inc. (CSS) reported second-quarter net earnings of $11.7 million, or $1.08 a share, up 27% from $9.24 million, or 84 cents a share, during the year-ago period. The Philadelphia-based consumer products company posted revenue of $173.8 million vs. $164 million.
Cablevision Systems Corp. (CVC) said Grover Brown and Zachary Carter have been elected to the board, and will comprise a new special litigation committee.
Dean Foods Co. (DF) said two shareholder derivative complaints alleging stock option backdating have been filed against the company. The company said that it does not believe there has been any inappropriate conduct and does not expect any restatement of its financial results.
Dow Jones & Co. (DJ) said it has agreed to sell six of its community newspapers to Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. for $282.5 million in cash, subject to a working capital adjustment. The sale is expected to cut fourth-quarter per-share results by a penny, and cut 2007 per-share results by 3 cents.
Enbridge Energy Partners L.P. (EEP) reported third-quarter net earnings of $82.2 million, or $1.03 a unit. During the same period a year ago, Enbridge posted a net loss of $14.4 million, or 32 cents a unit.
Fisher Communications Inc. (FSCI) said Troy McGuire will become vice president of news and programming at the Seattle-based communications company, effective Jan. 2. The company operates 19 television stations and 27 radio stations in the Pacific Northwest.
Imation Corp. (IMN) said it has asked the Federal District Court in St. Paul, Minn. to resolve an ongoing dispute with Philips Electronics N.V. (PHG) , U.S. Philips Corp., and North American Philips Corp. Imation wants the court to reaffirm its cross-licensing rights related to several optical products under a long-standing agreement between the two companies.
KB Home (KBH) said it has received a letter stating that the company is in default under the indenture related to its 7-1/4% senior notes due 2018 because it has not filed its quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended Aug. 31.
Lawson Products Inc. (LAWS) said third-quarter net income fell, as expenses rose and results were adversely impacted by the termination of sales representatives, to $3.08 million, or 34 cents a share, from $6.59 million, or 73 cents a share, during the same period in the prior year.
Opnext Inc. filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to raise up to $150 million in its initial public offering. The Eatontown, N.J.-based provider of products for telecommunications and data communications networks said it plans to list its shares on the Nasdaq under the symbol "OPXT."

Weatherford International Ltd. (WFT) said Chief Financial Officer Lisa Rodriguez is leaving the company. The Houston-based provider of equipment and services for oil and gas production named Andrew Becnel, currently vice president of finance, as CFO, effective immediately.
