Amanda Carpenter's Book on Top Secrets of Sen. Hillary Clinton

This is a partial transcript of "The Big Story With John Gibson," October 16, 2006, that has been edited for clarity.

JOHN GIBSON, HOST: When it comes to looking ahead to 2008, Sen. Hillary Clinton is moving fast to the top of the list of Democratic candidates. But our next guest says there's a lot we don't know about Hillary, and the former first lady would like to keep it that way.

Amanda Carpenter is here now. She is the author of "The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy's Dossier on Hillary Clinton."

Amanda, what is it we possibly do not know about Hillary Clinton at this late date?

AMANDA CARPENTER, AUTHOR: The most alarming thing that I found in doing my research for "The Dossier" is the fact that there are millions of dollars in foreign money available to fund Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign as we speak. I found this by looking at her Senate financial disclosure forms that she's required to give to the U.S. Senate.

And what I found in there is Bill Clinton has made more than $20 million in foreign money since he left the White House. This comes from places like the People's Republic of China, the United Arab Emirates, Colombia. There's a lot of unscrupulous places he's been taking this money.

GIBSON: Isn't that his speaking fee money? Are you saying that money has gone into her campaign?

CARPENTER: As of right now it's not in her campaign but the fact right now is that they have a joint checking account worth between $5 and $20 million. And I spoke with campaign finance lawyers who confirm to me that Hillary Clinton can use that foreign money. Now, campaign finance creators never considered this scenario. I also talked to other people on Capitol Hill that said this is essentially a loophole that Hillary Clinton will be able to exploit.

GIBSON: What else is it in the flap, the inside flap of your book, it says "shocking quotes." What is it we haven't heard about Hillary? I can hardly imagine there is virtually anything we haven't heard about Hillary.

CARPENTER: Well, one of those shocking quotes that I found came from a private fund-raiser that she gave in San Francisco, where a reporter got in there, it was closed to the press but a reporter did get in and Hillary Clinton told her liberal fund-raisers in San Francisco that we are going to take things away from you for the common good. Now, this is very shocking and it's very socialistic. I was quite frankly very alarmed that Hillary Clinton would speak so frankly off the cuff, but I think it's in line with her liberal voting record.

GIBSON: We know Hillary is a liberal and has been a liberal all of her life. She's been quite out front about this. Why do you think any of this information is going to come as a surprise to the American public?

CARPENTER: Well, the book that I compiled is much different than the other Hillary Clinton books that you've been seeing. I don't bring up the old stuff. And Bill Clinton is essentially only talked about in her relation as a policymaker. I think people need information on what she's doing on Capitol Hill 2001 to the present. And that's what I focused on in the book. I look at the legislation she created, the money that she's earmarked. And I think people have a hunger for this information especially with the blogosphere and things like this. People want the timeline information, not the day-to-day quotes that she happens to be saying on the campaign trail.

GIBSON: Amanda Carpenter, author of "The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy's Dossier on Hillary Clinton." Amanda, thanks a lot.

CARPENTER: Thank you.
