Reports: Italy is Willing to Command U.N. Force in Lebanon

Italy is willing to command the expanded U.N. force in Lebanon, the premier said Monday, according to news agencies.

Romano Prodi said he informed U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan about the proposal and that Annan would make the decision about who will lead the force "after completing an analysis and discussions with the leaders of countries that are interested in joining the mission," ANSA and Apcom reported.
