Man Killed by Swarm of Bees, Stung 300 Times

SIERRA VISTA, Arizona – A 39-year-old man died after a swarm of bees attacked him and his father, according to a media report Monday.

The two men were working on a roof Sunday when they accidentally disturbed a bee hive. While the father sought refuge inside the house, the son stayed outside to try to ward off the bees, Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff's Department, told the Sierra Vista Herald.

The son was stung about 300 times. The father was stable in stable condition at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center Sunday afternoon after being stung 100 times, Capas said.

Sheriff's deputies and firefighters used foam to calm the bees. Two emergency workers were stung, but were in good condition, Capas told the newspaper.
