J.K. Rowling Says Romance Not in Cards for Harry Potter and Hermione

It appears there are no magic moments in store for Harry Potter and his brainy pal, Hermione Granger.

In a question-and-answer session at Radio City Music Hall last night "Harry Potter" scribe J.K. Rowling implied that young wizard's best friend, Ron Weasley, will win Hermione's heart in the seventh and final installment of the series.

For years, fans on the Web have debated which wizard would hook Hermione.

"There are people who wanted Harry and Hermione," Rowling said, eliciting a roar from the crowd of 6,000. "They're still out there," she said in disbelief. "C'mon now."

Earlier, she said Hermione will "see herself entwined with another person whose identity you can probably guess," and grinned when she mentioned fans who "want Ron and Hermione."

Other than that, the notoriously tight-lipped Rowling — who recently said two characters will die in the final installment — revealed little at the charity reading, which also featured fellow star authors Stephen King and John Irving.
