GLEN COVE, New York – An Egyptian student who had been ejected from a golf club drove his car into a crowd, hitting four people and injuring two of them critically, police said.
Authorities said Sayed Khaled el-Waraky, 24, an Egyptian national who was attending college in Vienna, Virginia, had been kicked out of the Soundview Cafe at the Glen Cove Golf Club about 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
He got into his 2005 Jaguar and headed toward the exit, but then turned around and sped into the crowd, police said.
The critically injured men were identified as Sean Basdavanos, 24, who suffered a fractured jaw and other facial and internal injuries, and Matthew Granger, 23, who had a skull fracture.
Authorities said el-Waraky left the area, and was stopped about 10 minutes later. He was changed with assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving while intoxicated.
