Is it just me or does it seem that there is less humanity in the world?
I was so saddened by what happened on Mt. Everest. David Sharp was attempting the climb when he succumbed to oxygen deprivation in the so-called “death zone.” As he lay there with no oxygen and no gloves in subzero temperatures, several dozen people hiked right past him.
A double amputee named Mark Inglis said when he saw Sharp he thought, “Look, mate, you can’t do anything” and he continued on. Others said that after paying $75,000 to get to the top they wouldn’t stop for anything.
Halle Berry, the star of "X-Men," is here with me and she could only say, “How sad. What a statement about the level of our humanity.”
Sir Edmund Hillary, who was the first man to conquer Everest, said, “Human life is far more important than just getting to the top of a mountain.” I would add it’s more important than getting to the top of anything.
By the way, shhh, we just interviewed Halle Berry and we’ll show it Friday. You won’t believe what she does on the show. Seriously, I never thought she’d do what we asked, but she did. You’re going to love this interview!
Well the interesting part is just about to start in Washington. The Senate will pass its version of the illegal immigration bill. The House version is completely different. What will happen in conference committee? Sen. John Cornyn of Texas is on the committee that will be hashing out the final version, and he is against what’s coming out of the Senate. Should be fascinating!
See you tomorrow,
