I am writing the blog as we hurry to catch the red eye back to the East Coast. Yes, I'll be flying all night: San Diego to Newark.

I have posted a bunch of pictures from our journey to the border between Mexico and the United States. Needless to say, our trip was an eye opener. I know the task of securing our borders is a daunting one, but when you actually get out there and spend time with the U.S. Border Patrol, you can't help but wonder how we will do it. The Border Patrol works very hard and they are proud of their work, but the border is vast and the Border Patrol is — in my view — small. I am curious what impact the 6,000 or so National Guard will have. I hope the impact is immense — the problem is.

On Monday we went to another section of the border with Tim Donnelly, the state leader of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps of California. We brought our cameras and will show you our video Tuesday night. You will probably be stunned at what we saw — and what Tim told us. I also took many still pics from this interview and will post the pics in Wednesday's blog. Suffice it to say, there is virtually no barrier to entry to the U.S. when you travel east of San Diego. We will show you.

Our show originates from New York on Tuesday and Wednesday — if all goes as planned. If you are a regular viewer, you know that news can unexpectedly divert us!
