Yes, we are "on the road" and while most think we might be headed to Durham or Aruba — no, we are headed to Houston. If you didn't know that, you did not read Monday's blog, where I wrote we would be traveling to Houston today and invited you to guess why. Many of you did guess and I posted your e-mail guesses below.

The trip to Houston is to interview Mrs. (Barbara) Bush. We are taping the interview late afternoon/early evening and will likely air a bit of it tonight, but the balance of the interview will air tomorrow night. We would air the entire interview tonight, but we have a bit of a time crunch — it is not easy to tape a late afternoon/early evening interview and feed it to NYC, get it prepared, etc., for airing during the 10 p.m. hour.

In anticipation of the interview, I have been reading Mrs. Bush's books. If you have not read "Barbara Bush: A Memoir," you should. Mrs. Bush is very funny. I had no idea that she was funny. The book is very cleverly written and gives you a glimpse of her life (and her family's) that is very different from the public side of their lives.

I first met Mrs. Bush when I interviewed President Bush 41 after he returned from Pakistan. He had gone there to help generate relief for those suffering from the recent earthquake. Mrs. Bush came to the interview at the presidential library and brought Sadie, their Springer Spaniel. I grew up with a Springer Spaniel and had one who died a few years ago... so I was delighted that Mrs. Bush brought Sadie.

Greta,
I would think that your trip to Houston would be connected to OIL or NASA. My guess is oil, i.e., the horrific prices and the obscene profits. Of course, I could be completely wrong and your trip is to do a follow up on the Katrina victims!

Dear Greta,
I'm hoping your Houston project is the Enron trial — wish we had more details on Skilling's testimony and Ken Lay's when it comes. How Skilling can defend his actions is beyond me. Especially when he has such total recall of events, except he can't seem to remember unloading his stock just before it tanked. Selective memory? Hope the jury doesn't buy into it.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Sincerely,
Nancy Hagen

Greta,
I wrote earlier today, but forgot to guess your trip there might be relating to the big Enron trial that's been going on.
Thanks,

Hi Greta,
Are you going to Houston to interview Eileen Collins, the astronaut? Hope so!
Enjoyed the behind-the-scenes in this morning's GretaWire! While you were sitting on the floor working, were you surrounded by dogs and cats wanting to "help"?
This must be an even busier Monday than usual for all of you at "OTR" — can't wait to see tonight's show with all the latest info!

I don't know if you are interested in baseball, but since you are going to Houston, my guess is you will interview Roger Clemens to see if he is returning to baseball. My guess of Aruba did not pan out, but if I was right, you would have had some big scoop.

Greta,
Now I'm going to be trying all day to guess who you are coming here to (Houston) to interview. Can I have another clue? If I figure it out I'll let you know. Now I won't be able to concentrate on my work.
Clarissa Lockett
Houston, TX

ANSWER: I quickly wrote back and gave Clarissa a hint: I told her it was a woman. I wanted her to be able to concentrate on her work.

Hey Greta,
Glad to see there's some events in Aruba... some are saying this is just another ploy to deceive Americans to lift the boycott. Maybe the police tapped into Joran's phone and noticed he was talking to the arrested guy numerous times. Joe T. has been saying Joran doesn't know this guy but I don't see how that's possible as they are both tall boys that resemble each other.
My guess about your trip to Houston is you are going to meet with Houston Mayor White about the Katrina refugee situation, and what problems it is causing Houston to deal with. You could be meeting again with Bush 41, Barbara and Gov. Rick Perry. Perry is actively trying to solve the Texas school funding problem this week in the Texas House. The Houston Shell Open is going on this week, so you might run into some pro golfers during your stay in my former hometown.
Have a good trip,
Mel

Hi Greta,
My guess with Houston being the location is the former president and/or Mrs. Bush. That is of course assuming there is no big breaking news, such as Brett Favre is being traded to the Houston Texans coming out tomorrow!
Have a safe trip.

Greta, you gadabout girl,
Hard to guess what's up in Houston! Maybe it has to do with baseball? Maybe it has to do with Bush 41 Presidential Library or... maybe someone else involved in the Holloway case? Last guess, someone involved with the Katrina relief effort in Houston? I give up! We will watch tonight... especially to hear what Beth and you have re: new arrest.

Greta,
Being an attorney, you should be the last person to relate a woman's last name as the currant husband and the last husband. Who's married to Beth? If my wife were introduced as my last name and her ex's last name, she would soon become another one of my exs.

Hi Greta,
Have you wondered why you keep getting scooped on the Aruba saga. Everyone knows you won't work on weekends, so this is their payback.

ANSWER: I guess Bob did not read yesterday's GretaWire.

E-mail No. 13

Hi Greta,
How about this theory: Aruba is feeling the pressure and the economic crunch over the Natalee Holloway case. Eventually what I think they will do is use this new suspect, or subsequently another one and use him as a scapegoat, have a trial, convict him. Then everybody is happy right? Then afterwards, they give him a half mil, relocate him to Holland or somewhere else, he never does any time, and no one ever has to know. Then Aruba clears their tarnished reputation and the economics return to normal. Kick that around with Ten and Bernie, they crack me up.
