A plane carrying 14 people crashed into a tire factory near an airport in southern Ecuador on Friday. The fate of the passengers and crew was not known.

Red Cross spokesman Galo Verdugo said the plane hit the factory in an industrial park in Cuenca.

Witnesses told local radio stations that factory workers were having lunch in another area when the plane crashed, so none of them were injured.

The plane was carrying 12 passengers and two crew members.
