Capitol Police Call Off Alert for Suspicious Package

WASHINGTON – U.S. Capitol Police called off an alert Tuesday after a brief investigation of a suspicious package found in a parking garage of the Hart Senate Office Building.

Police had announced that people should avoid the area, though Senate business in the building continued. No evacuations were ordered.

There was no immediate word on what the package was.
