Out-of-the-ordinary news from the folks at "Studio B"...
Bringing Boo Boo Back
A retired nurse found a loved one floating facedown in the pool. It's been a long time since she tried to save someone's life, years since she performed CPR, but she says she decided to give it a shot to see if she "still had it."
So she performed mouth-to-beak resuscitation. After a couple of puffs, Boo Boo — her brother's exotic pet chicken — opened his eyes.
Better Late Than Never
When it comes to returning library books, people often forget. Sometimes the book sits around for days, weeks, even months. But for one New Zealand woman it was decades.
"The Punch Library of Humor" was borrowed from the library back in 1945 and was recently found in the attic. On her 85th birthday the woman got the overdue book bill totaling more than $6,000.
The library apparently has a sense of humor and says they'll waive the charges in return for the privilege of displaying a book that has been out for 61 years.
Caught Green-Handed
Cops in Texas thought they smelled something a little whacky after they pulled over a car on Interstate 35. But before they could find out what it was, the guy took off.
During the chase that followed, police say the suspect tore open more than a dozen bags of marijuana and threw them out of the window. When the chase was over he was wearing the evidence, literally covered in pot.
Cops also say some people were following the chase on the scanners and ran to the scene to try to "retrieve" some of the evidence.
Message in a Bottle
The captain never thought he would get a reply when he sent out a message in a bottle off the coast of Long Island. He wasn't sending out an SOS, just a friendly hello with a return address.
Turns out someone across the pond did get the message. Months later he got a response: "Don't litter."
The captain told a local paper that the British guy who found the bottle popped his cork saying, "All you Americans aren't happy unless you are mucking about somewhere."
