Among the companies whose shares are expected to see active trade in Wednesday's session are Walt Disney Co., ConocoPhillips, Qualcomm Inc., Abbott Laboratories and Netflix Inc.

Abbott Laboratories (ABT) is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of 76 cents a share, according to analysts polled by Thomson First Call.

Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) is seen posting fiscal second-quarter earnings of 45 cents a share.

BellSouth Corp.'s (BLS) fourth quarter is expected to show a per-share profit of 45 cents.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY) is expected to post earnings of 28 cents a share in its fourth quarter.

Colgate-Palmolive Co.'s (CL) fourth-quarter profit is expected to come in at 68 cents a share.

ConocoPhillips (COP) is seen posting a fourth-quarter per-share profit of $2.62.

General Dynamics Corp. (GD) is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of $1.97 a share.

McGraw-Hill Cos. (MHP) is expected to report earnings of 56 cents a share in its fourth-quarter.

Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) is seen posting a fiscal first-quarter profit of 38 cents a share.

WellPoint Inc.'s (WLP) fourth-quarter results are expected to show a per-share profit of $1.04.

Xerox Corp. (XRX) is expected to post a profit of 32 cents a share in its fourth quarter.

After Tuesday's closing bell, Walt Disney Co. (DIS) agreed to acquire Pixar (PIXR) for $6.3 billion in stock and $1.1 billion in cash. See full story. See After Hours column.

Entrust Inc. (ENTU) reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $3.36 million, or 5 cents a share, vs. $2.62 million, or 4 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue at the Addison, Texas-based Internet security solutions company fell to $24.8 million from $27.1 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were expecting earnings of 4 cents a share on revenue of $28.2 million.

Extreme Networks Inc. (EXTR) reported fiscal second-quarter net earnings of $5.65 million, or 5 cents a share, vs. $9.95 million, or 8 cents a share, during the same period a year ago. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based networking company posted revenue of $92.8 million, compared with $100.3 million.

Honeywell Technologies Inc. (HON) said it's raising its cash bid for U.K. firm First Technology, giving the total offer a value of about $718 million. See full story.

Netflix Inc. (NFLX) said its fourth-quarter profit was more than six times higher than a year ago on increased subscriber revenue. See full story.

Plantronics Inc. (PLT) reported fiscal third-quarter net earnings of $22 million, or 46 cents a share, a decrease of 9.9% from $24.4 million, or 48 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue was $222.5 million, up from $150.6 million last year. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call were expecting earnings of 39 cents a share on revenue of $202 million.

RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD) reported fiscal third-quarter net earnings of $14.7 million, or 7 cents a share, compared with $582,000, or breakeven on a per-share basis, last year. Earnings on a pro forma basis were $16.4 million, or 8 cents a share. Revenue rose 23% to $208 million from $168.9 million a year ago. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call were expecting the Greensboro, N.C.-based company to report a profit of 7 cents a share on revenue of $210 million.

Ryland Group Inc. (RYL) said fourth-quarter profit rose 49% from the year-ago period on higher home sales. See full story.

Trimble (TRMB) reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $23.4 million, or 41 cents a share, up 43% from $16.4 million, or 29 cents a share, last year. Earnings on a pro forma basis were $16.2 million, or 29 cents a share. Revenue at the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based developer of global positioning technology was $186.8 million, up from $162.7 million last year.
