An Ohio woman has pleaded no contest (search) to involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of seven children who died in a fire started by one of them while she was briefly away from her Cleveland home.

Six of the children were Melinda Ragland's own. Ragland said she had gone to her sister's apartment to get diapers and was away only for several minutes.

Ragland's lawyer says she had no money or phone and was "trying to be a good mother."

She faces up to 35 years in prison when she's sentenced later this month.
