An Amtrak (search) passenger train rammed a pickup truck that had ignored warnings at a railroad crossing Monday, killing a woman and injuring two others, officials said.
No one on the Texas Eagle (search) Amtrak train was injured, Marc Magliari, a spokesman for Amtrak, said in Monday's online edition of The Dallas Morning News (search).
Police said the truck's driver, Veronica Sillas, failed to heed a railroad crossing barricade and flashing warning lights. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Joe Sillas, 31, was thrown from the truck, police said, and was listed in very critical condition at a hospital late Monday.
Eleven-month-old Esmerelda Sillas suffered head injuries and was listed in critical but stable condition.
Magliari said the train sustained minimal damage.
