'Smallville' Stuntman Seriously Injured in Fall

The 35-year-old stunt coordinator on the "Smallville" (search) television show was in serious condition after falling at least 25 feet while filming a stunt for the show in Canada, officials said Wednesday.

Christopher Sayour (search) suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries in the accident Tuesday morning and was in serious condition at a Vancouver hospital, his family said in a statement.

Family members said that Sayour will undergo various medical procedures in the coming days.

"We ask everyone to join us in praying for Christopher's recovery," the family statement said.

A joint statement issued by the WB television network and Warner Bros. said their thoughts and prayers are with Sayour's family.

The accident was being investigated by the regional Workers' Compensation Board, which investigates workplace accidents, said Donna Freeman, a spokeswoman for the agency.

A safety officer from the board was sent to the scene after it was reported that Sayour fell, Freeman said. Initial reports said he fell 26 feet, but a later report said he dropped 37 feet, Freeman said.

"Smallville" stars actor Tom Welling (search), 28, in a version of the Superman story. Welling plays farmboy Clark Kent who has super strength and is virtually indestructible.

Sayour has been the stunt double for Welling since the show's debut in 2001.
