'Underground Idol' Planned for Internet Radio

"American Idol" (search) is launching an online version of the popular talent show as an Internet radio station.

The station will be called "American Idol Underground" (search) and will be a place where contestants can upload their music to the service for a $50 entry fee.

Once uploaded, each track will receive a minimum of 200 spins and listeners will vote on their favorites.

However, there will be no direct link to the TV show. Winners won't be guaranteed a record deal.
