BEIT LAHIYA, Gaza Strip – Hundreds of Palestinians (search) burned Israeli and U.S. flags Friday during a protest against the alleged desecration of the Islamic holy book, the Koran, at a prison in northern Israel.
The marchers, including about 30 militants carrying rifles in one hand and Korans (search) in the other, demanded that Israel put the alleged perpetrators on trial and apologize.
Earlier this week, the militant Islamic Jihad group showed pictures of torn Korans, which they said were ripped by Israeli soldiers inside Megiddo (search) jail in northern Israel.
One sign at the rally drew parallels between the two alleged incidents.
"From Guantanamo to Megiddo, nonbelievers are all the same," it read.
