LOS ANGELES – There was quite a 55th birthday surprise for entertainer Stevie Wonder (search) — the birth of his seventh child.
Wonder and his fashion designer wife Kai Millard Morris (search) announced Monday that they are the proud parents of a boy born May 13, the singer's 55 birthday. It was the couple's first child.
Mandla Kadjaly Carl Stevland Morris weighed 7-pounds, 8-ounces and was 20-inches long, publicist Howard Bragman said.
"Mandla" means Powerful/Defiant in Zulu and "Kadjaly" is Swahili for Born From God, the spokesman said in a news release.
No other details were released.
"It's a perfectly healthy family," Bragman said Monday, noting Wonder was an extremely private person.
It was Wonder's seventh child, Bragman said.
The Grammy-winning singer is currently in the studio completing his "A Time To Love" (search) album, his first in 10 years.
