Actress Tatum O'Neal (search) was sued yesterday by an insurance company that claims she caused a fire in her Manhattan apartment last year.

Merrimack Mutual Fire Insurance (search) paid O'Neal's building $75,365.86 after the April 21, 2004, blaze, according to papers filed yesterday in Manhattan Supreme Court.

But the company wants Tatum, 41, to reimburse it, claiming that the fire "was a result of the carelessness, recklessness and negligence" on the part of the "Paper Moon" (search) and "Bad News Bears" (search) former child star.

The court papers do not say exactly what O'Neal did — or did not do — to allegedly cause the fire.

O'Neal's manager would not comment.
