A man was charged with stabbing his wife and 16-year-old stepson to death after police found the boy's body in the street in front of the family's home.

Karl Leon Baker, 47, is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a knife during commission of a crime, said police Sgt. Tom Plock.

When police arrived at the home early Sunday, they found 16-year-old Antonio Arnold dead in the street. Arnold's mother, 46-year-old Debra Baker, was dead inside the house, Plock said.

The two had each been stabbed several times with an 8- to 10-inch kitchen knife, said Muscogee County (search) Coroner James Dunnavant.

Karl Baker was arrested later away from the home, Plock said. Police declined to give details.

Fourteen-year-old Whitney McMiller, who lives across the street from the Bakers, said Arnold was a 10th-grader at Carver High School. The slain teen's younger sister also attends Carver, McMiller said Sunday. The girl was unharmed, Plock said.

Police were previously called to the home on April 7. Karl Baker told police his stepson and another youth assaulted him and stole $250. There is no record that Arnold or the other young man was arrested.
