1979-1981: Jaime Roldos (killed in plane crash)
1981-1984: Osvaldo Hurtado (Roldos' vice president)
1984-1988: Leon Febres Cordero
1988-1992: Rodrigo Borja
1992-1996: Sixto Duran Ballen
1996-1997: Abdala Bucaram (driven from office after six months)
1997-1998: Fabian Alarcon (president of Congress who replaced Bucaram)
1998-2000: Jamil Mahuad (driven from office after 16 months)
2000-2002: Gustavo Noboa (Mahuad's vice president)
2002-2005: Lucio Gutierrez (driven from office after 27 months)
2005- Alfredo Palacio (Gutierrez's vice president)
