NEW YORK – The ex-girlfriend of rap mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs (search) will get thousands of dollars in child support owed her for their son — but not as much as she had anticipated.
The Appellate Division ruled Thursday that Combs must pay Misa Hylton-Brimm (search) $21,782 a month in support for their 11-year-old son, Justin.
A Westchester Family Court judge had originally awarded Hylton-Brimm $35,000 a month, as well as $398,451 in back support and $60,000 for legal expenses.
Hylton-Brimm had arrived at the figure based on what Combs — who had been paying $5,512 a month for Justin — was paying another woman in child support. The higher court said that was an improper basis for setting the figure.
Although the higher court slashed the monthly figure, it ruled that Combs also has to pay legal expenses and a readjusted sum for back support.
"This award provides for the child's expenses, and that's all she ever wanted," said Hylton-Brimm's lawyer, Brett Kimmel.
A spokesman for Combs said he plans to take the case to the state Court of Appeals.
