LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Authorities in Stockton, Calif., are looking for a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a man who had been renting a room and living at her family's home.
Officials issued an Amber Alert late Wednesday for Juana Martinez (search), described as a 5' 3", 110-pound Hispanic girl with brown eyes and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a burgundy sweater, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
The California Highway Patrol (search) and the Stockton Police Department are looking for Tomas Miguel Pedro, a 23-year-old Hispanic man said to be 5' 6", 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Pedro is believed to be driving an older-model four-door Honda accord with a broken window covered by paper.
Stockton Police Sgt. Jay Smith told FOX News on Thursday that Pedro had rented a room at the Martinez home.
"Her parents came home I believe from work and found her missing and started looking and actually observed her in the vehicle with the suspect driving by the house. They attempted to locate them but lost them in traffic," Smith said.
