ABC has secretly taped a pilot for a possible replacement show for the late-night news show "Nightline," (search) according to reports.

The replacement show — hosted by Washington reporter Jake Tapper (search) and the anchor of the weekend edition of "Good Morning America," Bill Weir (search) — was said to be more light-hearted and fast paced than "Nightline," according to a report in Monday's Los Angles Times.

As well, ESPN is said to be working on a sports show for the 11:35 p.m. EST slot, according to officials.

No decisions have been made about the future of "Nightline" and its host, Ted Koppel (search).
