Some remarks from President Bush's State of the Union (search) speech involving other countries:
IRAQ: Offered no hint of timetable for a troop withdrawal from Iraq. Hailed success of Sunday's elections and said the United Nations (search) and the European Union (search) provided technical assistance for the elections. Said 28 countries have troops on the ground there and that NATO is helping train Iraqi officers.
AFGHANISTAN: Said an international force is helping provide security.
NORTH KOREA: Said United States is working closely with governments in Asia to convince North Korea to abandon nuclear ambitions.
SYRIA-LEBANON: Said Syrian government allows its territory and parts of Lebanon to be used by terrorists and that the administration expects it to stop.
ISRAEL-PALESTINE: Said goal is to have two democratic states living side by side in peace and pledged American help to achieve that. Proposed $350 million in aid to the Palestinians.
IRAN: Said Iran remains primary state sponsor of terror and is pursuing nuclear weapons. Pledged to stand with Iranian people seeking liberty and to continue working with European allies to get Iran to give up its uranium enrichment program and any plutonium reprocessing and to end is support for terror.
AL QAEDA: Said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and nine other countries have captured or detained Al Qaeda terrorists and that administration will continue to work on coalitions to fight terrorism.
