The flight from JFK to Tel Aviv is 10 1/2 hours. That's a long time to be on a plane. It was an overnight flight, but I didn't sleep much — maybe four hours. I was one of the first off the 777, walking into a huge beautiful brand new terminal at Ben Gurion International. It was a long walk to baggage claim, but my bag was there within five minutes and customs was a breeze. A driver met me out front and we started down the road to Jerusalem, a little less than an hour away.
This is a beautiful country, with lots of green wide open spaces and rock-covered hills dotted with scrub and pine trees. The weather is really nice today, too. Very sunny and unseasonably warm. This is my sixth trip here in the past three years. I'm scheduled to stay about five weeks. I'm gonna miss my girl and my family and friends, but it feels good to be back.
