BOONE, N.C. – Authorities in Watauga County have issued an Amber Alert (search) for two children who they say were taken from a foster home at gunpoint by their biological parents. Deputies are looking for eleven-month-old Brianna Canter and two-year-old Paul Canter, who were taken this morning.
Authorities say their father, 28-year-old James Canter, brandished a gun when he and 18-year-old Alisha Chambers took the children. They were said to have abandoned their car and escaped on foot into the woods after a run-in with authorites in Johnston County (search), Tennessee — but didn't have the children with them.
The children are described as white and fair-haired. James Canter is described as a five-foot-six, 165-pound white man with brown hair, and Chambers is five-foot-two, 113 pounds and has blond hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Watauga County (search) Sheriff's Department.
