The death toll rose sharply today, over 22, 000 are dead in Asia a day after a magnitude 9 quake struck deep beneath the Indian Ocean off the coast of Indonesia. It was the most powerful earthquake in the world in four decades. The tsunami that resulted from the earthquake has left not only thousands dead but countless more homeless, hungry and at risk for disease.
