Treats for Troops

NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: Do you want to thank our troops in Iraq? (search) Then why not send them some treats this holiday?

My next guest has a very quick and easy way to do it. We got enormous reaction from her last year at this time.

Joining us now from Denver is Deborah Crane. Deborah is the founder of TreatsForTroops.com.

Deborah, you've become like a cottage industry with this cause. It's great. Tell us how it works.

DEBORAH CRANE, TREATSFORTROOPS.COM: Well, we're a convenient service for friends and family to send a package to their soldier on a somewhat regular basis, even if they don't have all the time in the world.

We also have our famous Foster a Soldier program. And several thousand soldiers registered with us. Caring, supportive individuals can send a package to those soldiers through our gift shop. And it will be sent to them in a safe, secure environment.

CAVUTO: All right. So you got get it out by when?

CRANE: There's a couple of different deadlines this year, but the main one is December 11 for priority mail.

CAVUTO: All right. So the price range is from what?

CRANE: Some of our most popular prices are in the $24.99 range, our Holiday Stocking Package. And we also have a Super Stocking that's $39.95, with the shipping and handling on that.

And we also have some larger packages, and our Enough-to-Share category, that are intended for a bigger group of soldiers. And they're intended to be shared with sometimes as much as many as 12 soldiers.

CAVUTO: What do you get for the feast package? What's in that?

CRANE: The main Holiday Feast Package is $24.95. There's a jumbo version that is $49.95. And then we have the Holiday Feast for Four that's $150.

CAVUTO: So what's in it? I'm saying, like what do you have in there?

CRANE: What do you get for it? It's turkey jerky, turkey pepperoni, various snack items. I think cranberry relish, which is a combination of dried cranberries and apricots and different nuts.

CAVUTO: Who came up with that, the cranberry relish? I would pass on that. Any baked goods?

CRANE: Yes. They have cookies.

CAVUTO: Oh, good. Well, there you go. Now we're talking, Deborah. All right.

CRANE: Yes, yes. We have fantastic cookies from Cubby's Cookies, and they are just absolutely delightful. They're as close to homemade as you could come up with.

CAVUTO: What's the demand been looking like so far?

CRANE: We've had a very good November so far. And we're hoping that we can have even more soldiers registered with us and get even more packages out between now and the mailing deadline.

And even if the package goes out after the deadline, remember, it's never too late to put a smile on a soldier's face.
