A Palestinian suicide bomber attacked an army patrol near a West Bank (search) checkpoint Tuesday wounding two people, Israeli media and rescue services reported.
Israeli rescue services said it was evacuating two people to hospital. One of the wounded was in moderate to serious condition, the rescue services said. Israel Radio reported the two are Israeli soldiers.
Israel Radio said the explosion at the checkpoint — not far from the West Bank town of Qalqilya (search) — was caused by a Palestinian suicide bomber. The radio reported that the bomber blew himself up near a military jeep, wounding the soldiers inside.
In a missile strike Monday, Israel killed three Palestinian militants, including one of them a leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades (search), a militant group linked to Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction. Zakariye Zubeydi, Al Aqsa's commander in the West Bank town of Jenin, not far from Qalqilya, vowed to avenge his comrades' death within 24 hours.
