OXFORD, Ala. – A fugitive killed a couple working at a convenience store, then kidnapped the woman's 14-year-old daughter and was holding her hostage Friday at a motel, authorities said.
The suspect, Walter George Honea Jr., 34, has been on the run since Wednesday, when arrest warrants were issued on rape and theft charges, investigators said.
The next night, a customer found the bodies of 34-year-old Linda Michelle Davis and 24-year-old Joshua Benjamin Davis behind the counter of a Sparkle Mart store in Anniston, in east-central Alabama, police said.
Video from a surveillance camera showed the gunman abducting the girl, Jordan Nichole Todaro, who had been sweeping the floor, police said.
Honea was holed up with the teenager Friday at a motel off Interstate 20 in Oxford, about 5 miles south, Anniston police Lt. Roy Nunnelly said. The girl appeared to be unharmed, and officers were negotiating with Honea, authorities said.
