Anne Heche to Star in 'Everwood'

Big-screen star Anne Heche (search) is detouring to the small screen for a role on The WB's "Everwood." (search

Heche, who was famously paired with Ellen DeGeneres (search) in the late '90s as show-biz's "out" power couple, will play the love interest of Dr. Andrew Brown (Treat Williams) in The WB series.

Heche will play Amanda Carver, a local woman whose husband is paralyzed and unable to communicate.

Enter Dr. Brown, who'll teach Amanda different ways to communicate with her hubby — with the couple growing thisclose to each other.

Heche has starred in movies including "Psycho," "Six Days, Seven Nights," "Wag the Dog," "Donnie Brasco" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

She's no stranger to TV, having had a story arc on "Ally McBeal" and roles in various TV movies after getting her start on the soap "Another World."

"Everwood" kicks off its third season next month, when former "Party of Five" member Scott Wolf (search) joins the cast as Dr. Jake Hartman.

In the show, Williams plays a doctor who retreats to a small Colorado town with his two kids after his wife's death.
