Jada Pinkett Smith Rocks Conn. Casino

MASHANTUCKET, CONN. – Hollywood collided with rock 'n' roll in the unlikeliest of places: a Connecticut casino.

Jada Pinkett Smith (search), Juliette Lewis (search) and their respective bands — Pinkett's Wicked Wisdom and Lewis' Juliette and the Licks — literally brought hard rock to the opening of the Hard Rock Cafe inside Foxwoods Resort and Casino Thursday.

"I'm about to unleash some serious energy," Lewis told The Associated Press as she descended into the cafe via the massive stairway entrance, just steps away from the bells and whistles of the casino's slots.

The actresses and their newborn rock ensembles performed — Jada first, Juliette second — for hundreds of invitees and a handful of Hollywood celebs.

"I'm surprised," actress Chloe Sevigny (search) ("Boys Don't Cry," "The Brown Bunny") said of Pinkett Smith's performance. "She's quite good. I like her hair."

Before wailing into the microphone and shaking her long locks onstage, Pinkett Smith christened the new Hard Rock location by smashing a guitar on the red carpet. It took three thrusts to obliterate the instrument.

"I've never been to a Hard Rock before," Sevigny told the AP. "It's nice."

Lewis made her presence known when she jumped on the Hard Rock stage clad in a purple getup more suitable for Catwoman. Throughout the punk-rock set, Lewis' intensely physically performance seemed to channel the likes of her musical inspirations Iggy Pop and Grace Jones.

"I put all my sexual energy into music," said Lewis, who called the Foxwoods gig "one little step" for Juliette and the Licks. The band can next be seen at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans in October.

Frequent Foxwoods player Michael Imperioli (Chris Moltisanti in "The Sopranos") was hounded by female fans while Pinkett Smith was flanked by burly bodyguards.

With the fifth season of "The Sopranos" in the bag and the next season not premiering until sometime in 2006, what's on Imperioli's to-do list?

"Hopefully get a job," he mused.
