Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards (search) gathered with a small group on a front porch in Belle Plaine, Minnesota, today to talk about prescription drugs.

Edwards called the recent Medicare and prescription drug bill a "giveaway to big drug companies."

He also said the government should allow the reimportation of lower-cost drugs from Canada, and that it should be able to negotiate prices with large drug companies.

It was the second day of events in Minnesota for Edwards, who was due to travel on to Fargo, North Dakota.

On the Republican ticket, President Bush, first lady Laura Bush (search) and Vice President Dick Cheney (search) have all visited Minnesota in the last couple weeks, and the president is scheduled to appear in St. Paul this coming Wednesday.
