Fox will attempt the most extreme makeover show yet — a reality show that aims to fixup entire families, their homes, their cars and even their pets.
Tentatively titled "Family Time," the show — to be hosted by Dr. Phil's (search) son, Jay McGraw (search) — will gather plastic surgeons, life-coaches and construction workers and unleash them on a family.
"This is the most comprehensive makeover show ever on television," said Fox reality show guru Mike Darnell. "Leaving no stone unturned, this crew of experts will literally change people's lives, taking on every member of the family.
"They'll transform sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, dogs, cars and will even strip a house down to studs if they have to," Darnell says.
The show will incorporate elements of reality shows, ranging from "Extreme Makeover" (search) to MTV's "Pimp My Ride."
The team on "Family Time" — a stylist, an interior designer, a construction crew and even experts to re-invent cars and pets — plans to tackle issues ranging from weight and physical disabilities to a crumbling home.
"Family Time" is being produced by the brains behind "Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy," "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé" and "Joe Millionaire."
McGraw, a frequent guest on his father's famous afternoon therapy show, is the author of bestsellers "Life Strategies For Teens" and "Closing The Gap: A Strategy for Bringing Parents and Teens Together."
He has recently joined his father in writing about diets. His most recent best-selling book is "The Ultimate Weight Solution For Teens: The 7 Keys to Weight Freedom."
