Authorities were trying to determine why an Atlanta Falcons (search) cheerleader died in her north Atlanta apartment Sunday.

Tara Tanner (search), who turned 22 last month, was found dead by a friend, said Atlanta police Sgt. Kevin Iosty.

The Roswell High School graduate's body was sent to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, a routine procedure. On Monday, Iosty said the body showed no signs of trauma, and it was too soon to say what might have caused her death.

"They weren't looking at it being foul play," said Atlanta police spokesman Marion Lee.

Falcons spokesman Aaron Salkin said he was "shocked and saddened by this news.

"On behalf of the Atlanta Falcons family, our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time."

The Falcons Web site paints the picture of a Georgia State University (search) student who enjoyed the arts. She wrote that her fondest memory during her four seasons as a Falcons cheerleader was entertaining U.S. troops in Egypt and Korea.

"It is so fantastic to be able to bring a little bit of the U.S. to soldiers who are stationed on the other side of the world," Tanner wrote on the Web site.
