A sport utility vehicle (search) crashed through the glass doors and into the baggage claim area at Tampa International Airport (search) on Friday, injuring one person who was pinned under the vehicle.

Several dozen people were in the baggage claim area at the time of the accident, but no one else was injured, said Brenda Geoghagan, an airport spokeswoman.

The driver, 74-year-old Charles J. Plaskowsky, had been trying to parallel park when his foot slipped from the brake to the gas, Geoghagan said.

Police were investigating but no charges had been filed.

A small part of the baggage claim was closed while airport workers cleaned up broken glass, but Geoghagan said the airport quickly resumed regular operations.

John S. Barram, 74, who was pinned beneath the vehicle, was hospitalized in good condition and was expected to be released Friday, a hospital spokesman said.
