George Tenet (search), the head of the CIA for nearly seven years, and a Clinton administration appointee, has submitted his resignation to President Bush.

After intense scrutiny over the handling of the Sept. 11 attacks and the war in Iraq, CIA Director George Tenet (search) resigned as head of the U.S. intelligence agency, President Bush announced this morning.

Why is Tenet resigning now? The Director cited "personal reasons" as the impetus for his resignation. Is that the truth or is there something more behind the decision? We'll have the latest on Mr. Tenet's resignation this evening when former CIA official Michael Swetnam joins us.
